Northampton Township was settled in the late 1600's by English colonists who came to the new world with William Penn and named it after Northamptonshire, near London.
Located about 12 miles northeast of Philadelphia, Northampton has a population of approximately 40,000. Richboro, Holland and Churchville, located i the Township, are three of the local communities that have enjoyed recent growth. Enough, in fact, that Council Rock, the local school district has recently built a second high school (Council Rock - South) to accommodate the increase in the student population.
